2020 Policies and Procedures

The health and safety of our guests and employees has always been of the utmost importance to Coney
Island. In order to protect everyone, we are adjusting many operating procedures and implementing
new rules to make sure everyone adheres to social distancing best practices. It’s impossible for any
business to completely eliminate the risk of COVID-19 but these new policies are based on the guidance
of leading health experts and will significantly mitigate the potential spread of COVID-19.

Health and Safety Frequently Asked Questions

When will Coney Island Park open for the 2020 season?

Coney Island Park will be opening on June 12, 2020 but not all attractions will initially be open.

What is currently open?

Currently, Sunlite Pool, Cannonball Cove, Twister water slides, Typhoon Tower splashground, and Storybook Paddleboats are open. Cincy Mini Golf will be temporarily closed. Additionally, due to a variety of issues associated with COVID-19, the Challenge Zone obstacle course unfortunately needs to be postponed to 2021.

What new operational and cleaning procedures is Coney Island enacting due to COVID-19?

We’re adjusting all of our operating and sanitation procedures to align with social distancing practices and cleaning best practices. These changes include managing the capacity of the park to ensure that social distancing can be maintained, placing all park seating (including pool chairs and concession tables) six feet apart, placing hand sanitizers and disinfectants throughout the park, and enhancing our overall cleaning procedures. Additionally, the cooler racks and tables have been removed from the picnic area due to sanitation concerns. Please find a link to all of our 2020 policies here.

Can the virus that causes COVID-19 survive in pools?

According to the CDC website, “there is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools or water play areas” and “proper operation and maintenance (including disinfection with chlorine and bromine) should inactivate the virus in the water.”

Will park capacity limits will be in place?

We will be limiting overall park attendance to promote social distancing. We will also limit the capacity of certain sections of the park as warranted to maintain social distancing best practices.

Will guests be required to wear face coverings while at the park?

In accordance with the State of Ohio mandates, park guests 10 years of age or older must wear masks anytime they are unable to stay at least six feet away from individuals who do not live in their household. Guests exceptions from this rule include when guests are actively eating or drinking or if they have a medical condition or disability or are communicating with someone with a disability. Please note that face masks are prohibited from being worn whenever guests are participating in any of our water attractions such as the pools, water slides, and splashground. We thank you for your understanding and your adherence to these rules.

Can I wear my face covering/mask in the pool?

Face coverings/masks that are not designed for underwater usage are not allowed in the pool as they can become choking hazards when saturated with water.

Will park employees be wearing masks?

2020 Season Frequently Asked Questions

What changes are you making for season passholders due to the changes and delay regarding this season’s opening?

As the postponement of the 2020 opening has reduced the length of this year’s operating calendar, we are extending the validity of all 2020 season passes until the conclusion of the 2021 season at no additional cost. This change will apply to any and all season passes purchased in advance of or during the 2020 season. We are no longer offering a Season Passholder only entrance due to restrictions by the local board of health.

Will passholders receive the same passholder benefits in 2021 as they do in 2020?

Most passholder benefits will apply to the 2021 season just as they do to the 2020 season. Please note that the free guest admission tickets that passholders will receive in 2020 can be utilized in the 2021 season as well but passholders will NOT receive a second set of guest passes in 2021. Discounts on guest admissions will not be available in 2020.

Will there still be a private season passholder preview day in 2020?

Unfortunately, due to the delay of this year’s opening because of COVID-19, we will not be able to host a private season passholder preview day this year.

Will Coney Island still host midnight swim parties for passholders in 2020?

This is subject to change but it is our intention to still host passholder midnight swim parties in 2020.

What is the status of Coney Island’s events for 2020?

In accordance with the current prohibition against large gatherings, Coney Island signature events such as Fire Up the Night and Balloon Glow have all been postponed until the 2021 season.

Can I still bring guests with my Season Pass?

Season Passholder free guest passes may be utilized during the 2020 or 2021 season but Passholders will NOT receive a new set of free guest passes in advance of the 2021 season. The guests do need to enter Coney Island with the Passholder and then the Passholder and guest(s) need to visit the admissions area next to the main entrance to Sunlite Water Adventure to redeem the guest pass admission(s).
