What is the Coney Island World Record Attempt?

Coney Island is going to attempt to set a new world record for the most people down a water slide in 24 hours. Our record attempt will begin at noon on Friday, June 17 and run until noon on Saturday, June 18. The record attempt will occur on the green Twister body slide.

What do I receive for participating in the world record attempt?

To thank you for your participation in the world record attempt, all individuals who successfully participate in the world record attempt (by sliding down the green Twister slide) will receive one FREE ticket to return to Coney Island on any public operating day during the 2022 season. World record participants will also receive one free souvenir world record participant wristband and a Coney Island sticker.

Can anyone participate in the World Record attempt?

Yes! You must be a minimum of 36″ tall to participate. Twister has a weight limit of 300 pounds. Children between 36″ – 48″ must wear one of the provided life jackets.
Children under the age of 18 must have parental/guardian consent.

How do I purchase tickets for the World Record Attempt days, June 17 & 18?

You can click here to purchase full-day tickets or after 4 pm tickets for the park. If you wish to visit during both days of the event, you must purchase a ticket for each date, June 17 & 18. Please note, this event is free for Season Passholders.
Tickets for the midnite swim are $10 and are available at the gate only.
Tickets will be available for sale at the park. Please note that buying tickets online provides savings over tickets purchased at the park and will save you time by skipping the admissions booth line!

What attractions will be open during the world record attempt?

All Coney Island water park attractions will be open from 10 a.m. until midnight on Friday, June 17 though most attractions will briefly close between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Please note the blue Twister body slide will be closed throughout the 24 hours of the World Record attempt.
At 12:01 a.m. on Saturday, June 18 (right after midnight), most Coney Island water attractions will close but the Twister water slides will remain open for world record sliding (on the green body slide) and unlimited entertainment sliding on the two Twister tube slides. At 10:00 a.m., all water attractions will reopen and run until the park closes at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 18.

What time will the World Record Attempt be?

The World Record Attempt will begin at 12:00 p.m. (noon) on Friday June 17th and conclude at 11:59 a.m. on Saturday June 18th

Where at Coney Island will the World Record Attempt take place?

The World Record Attempt will be taking place at Sunlite Water Adventure on the green Twister water slide.

Can I ride the World Record slide multiple times?

We are attempting to set the record for the most people sliding down a water slide within 24 hours. In accordance with that record, each individual may only ride the green body slide and be “counted” once during the 24-hour period. Please be aware that the two Twister tube slides will be open for unlimited entertainment sliding throughout the 24-hour event.

Is the World Record Event free for Season Passholders?

Yes! The World Record Event is free to all Season Passholders. Feel free to enjoy the event and help Coney Island attempt a world record!
